I. About the Program The foundation of paramedical practice.

Paramedical tattooing is the clinical application of pigment to restore skin that has been altered by trauma, surgery, or medical treatment. This is the foundation credential awarded by Dr. Rusnak Academy — the curriculum every other Academy certification builds on. Candidates are trained in the discipline as it is practiced: scar camouflage for surgical and traumatic scars, stretchmark restoration, pigment chemistry, color theory for skin, sterilization and contamination protocol, and the regulatory framework governing medical-adjacent practice. The program is taught by Dr. Cecilia Rusnak at Healing Skin Medical Aesthetics, with hands-on instruction on live models under direct supervision. Students study the manual and are quizzed before class, and candidates who complete the training receive the Certificate of Advanced Professional Training in Paramedical Tattooing.

II. Curriculum

What the program covers.

Pigment Chemistry & Color Theory

The science behind pigment formulation, color matching for skin tone, and how pigments age and shift over time.

Sterilization & Contamination Protocol

Universal precautions, single-use equipment, blood-borne pathogen training, and the OSHA framework for clinical tattoo work.

Scar Camouflage Technique

Color-matching to surrounding skin, pigment placement on scar tissue, working with surgical scars, traumatic scars, and post-burn skin.

Stretchmark Restoration

Pigment work for stretch mark restoration across body areas, color theory for the lighter tone of stretchmarks, and protocols for different skin types.

Client Consultation & Contraindication Screening

Identifying candidates, screening for contraindications, informed consent, photographic documentation, and treatment planning.

Aftercare & Healing Protocol

Post-treatment care instructions, expected healing timeline, what to do when healing deviates from expected, and follow-up scheduling.

Regulatory Framework

FDA, MoCRA, OSHA, HIPAA, and the medical-adjacent practice infrastructure that paramedical practitioners operate within.

Assessment & Credentialing

Supervised hands-on practice on live models, a pre-class quiz on the manual, and the awarding of the Certificate of Advanced Professional Training.
