I. About the program
The foundation of paramedical practice.
Paramedical tattooing is the clinical application of pigment to restore skin that has been altered by trauma, surgery or medical treatment. This is the foundation credential awarded by Dr. Rusnak Academy, the curriculum every other Academy certification builds on.
Candidates are trained in the discipline as it is practised: scar camouflage for surgical and traumatic scars, stretch mark restoration, the ISR Inkless technique, pigment chemistry, colour theory for skin, sterilisation and contamination protocol, and the regulatory framework governing medical-adjacent practice.
The program is taught by Dr. Cecilia Rusnak, with hands-on instruction on live models under direct supervision. Students study the manual and are quizzed before class. Candidates who complete the training receive the Certificate of Advanced Professional Training in Paramedical Tattooing.
II. Curriculum
What the program covers.
Pigment chemistry and colour theory
The science behind pigment formulation, colour matching for skin tone, and how pigments age and shift over time.
Sterilisation and contamination protocol
Universal precautions, single-use equipment, bloodborne pathogen training and the OSHA framework for clinical tattoo work.
Scar camouflage technique
Colour matching to surrounding skin, pigment placement on scar tissue, working with surgical scars, traumatic scars and post-burn skin. Assessed as a named competency: see the Scar Camouflage Certification standard.
Stretch mark restoration
Pigment work for stretch mark restoration across body areas, colour theory for the lighter tone of stretch marks, and protocols for different skin types.
Consultation and contraindication screening
Identifying candidates, screening for contraindications, informed consent, photographic documentation and treatment planning.
Aftercare and healing protocol
Post-treatment care, the expected healing timeline, what to do when healing deviates from it, and follow-up scheduling.
Regulatory framework
FDA, MoCRA, OSHA, HIPAA and the medical-adjacent practice infrastructure paramedical practitioners operate within.
Assessment and credentialing
Supervised hands-on practice on live models, a pre-class quiz on the manual, and the awarding of the Certificate of Advanced Professional Training.
III. Details
Format, schedule and investment.
$1,000 deposit at enrollment, non-refundable but transferable. Balance due one week before class. Kit and lifetime mentorship included.
One online theory day, two in-person days.
